Welcome to B. W. Cooper

B.W. Cooper, formerly known as the Calliope Projects, is a historic neighborhood in Central City, New Orleans. Established in the early 1940s as one of the city’s major public housing developments, it became a cultural hub, producing notable musicians like the Neville Brothers and Master P. The area faced challenges over the decades, including crime and economic decline, leading to its demolition post-Hurricane Katrina. Today, the site has been redeveloped into Marrero Commons, a mixed-income community aiming to revitalize the neighborhood while honoring its rich cultural legacy.
