Located in Belle Chasse about 6 miles south of New Orleans CBD, NAS JRB is home to a Navy Reserve aggressor squadron, a support squadron, the LA Guard 159th Fighter Wing, Coast Guard Air Station N.O., a Marine Corps Reserve helo attack squadron, and other US Army and Navy activities. It supports NORAD homeland defense and Coast Guard search and rescue. It was formerly home to the US Navy “Nightwolves”, an aerial counter-narcotics unit, and the “Crawfishers”, a Navy Reserve anti-submarine warfare/patrol unit.
