This neighborhood was settled by immigrants fleeing the Communist takeover in Vietnam in the mid 1970’s and remains an insular ethnic community, holding tightly to their cultural and linguistic heritage. There are many thriving Vietnamese businesses here, including authentic restaurants and the Dong Phuong Bakery, which makes some of the most popular King Cakes in the city.
