Christ Church Cathedral

The oldest non-Roman-Catholic congregation in the Louisiana Purchase, Christ Church has stood as an Episcopal presence in New Orleans since 1803 and became the seat of the Diocese of Louisiana in 1892. The current Gothic Revival building, its cornerstone laid in 1886, is a graceful landmark on the St. Charles streetcar line, with regular Sunday and weekday services open to all. Its stone spire and stained glass make it a rewarding stop for anyone drawn to the city’s ecclesiastical architecture.
