Gayarre Place Monument

A small triangular park where Esplanade Avenue meets Bayou Road, home to the 1884 terracotta monument “Peace, the Genius of History.” The statue was created for the World’s Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition and moved here afterward, and the park was named for Louisiana historian Charles Gayarré in 1886.
