Saenger Theatre
A 1927 movie palace turned Broadway and concert house, the Saenger is one of Canal Street’s grand landmarks. Architect Emile Weil designed its interior as an Italian Baroque courtyard, with a ceiling of twinkling “stars” and projected clouds overhead. A $53 million restoration brought it back in 2013, and today it hosts touring Broadway shows, concerts, and comedy under that storied sky.
