The Presbytère

The Presbytere, built in 1813, was originally intended as a religious residence but was repurposed as a courthouse before becoming part of the Louisiana State Museum. Architecturally harmonious with the adjacent Cabildo, it features graceful arches and French Colonial design.

Inside, the Presbytere hosts two major exhibits: one exploring the history and traditions of Mardi Gras and another chronicling the impact and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Together, they reflect the resilience and cultural richness of New Orleans.
