Lincoln Beach is a historic lakefront site in New Orleans East that served as the city’s beach and amusement park for Black New Orleanians during segregation, from 1939 until it closed in the mid-1960s. On the shore of Lake Pontchartrain, it once drew families with rides, a pool, live music, and lake swimming. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, it is undergoing a major redevelopment to reopen as public lakefront space, with a museum honoring its history.
