Sankofa Wetland Park and Nature Trail is a 40-acre restored wetland in the Lower Ninth Ward, threaded with gravel trails, picnic spots, and a gazebo. Planted with cypress and native greenery, it doubles as a stormwater-cleaning wetland and a birdwatcher’s haven, with well over 100 species recorded. A peaceful place for a walk and a bit of nature in the city.
